Days Twenty Six thru Twenty Eight of Arizona Trip

Have mostly just been resting and relaxing since we arrived in Pahrump.  Barb has been getting back into her walking routine, and yesterday we went and had hamburgers with some of the group.  Tomorrow we begin the trek back to Oregon.  The month has gone by swiftly.
Todays slide show has a mixture of several days pictures, some that didn't get posted elsewhere, and some that did.

Days Nineteen thru Twenty Five of Arizona Trip

The days started running together towards the end of last week as we were working hard to get the house finished before Chris had to returned to Oregon.

On Friday evening, we met with my niece, Bonna, and her mother, Doris, for dinner.  My brother Jerry, a twin to Jim, was killed in a bicycle accident when Bonna was just 6 months old.  We had a great time catching up.

We had a couple of really worm days over the weekend and finally the saguaro cactus are starting to bloom.  We won't be here when they are in full bloom, but at least we got a sneak preview.

We also stopped out at the Cincinnati Reds/Cleveland Indians spring training stadium for a few pictures.

I also made a quick trip out to the Phoenix International  Raceway, where the NASCAR race was held the first weekend we were here.  You really can't capture the enormity of the complex in a picture.  There was well over a mile of parking area and porta potties set up to accommodate the attendees.

Chris and Rob finally got some needed rest on Sunday to go golfing, if you consider that rest.  Monday morning we took Chris to the airport to fly back to Redmond while Rob is going to stay at the house till the end of May.  They start construction on the pool tomorrow and he wants to be there for that. Chris will fly back over Memorial day when every thing should be completed and the house should be ready to rent.  You can check out the listing at this site.

Tuesday morning we got all our things ready and headed to Pahrump, Nevada where we will spend a few days before heading back to Oregon via Burns and Eagle Crest.  Should be home before the end of the month.

Day Eighteen of Arizona trip

Today Chuck and Margo Kraft drove over from the South side of Phoenix and joined us for dinner and reminiscing. They head back to cold Minnesota on Sunday.

Day Seventeen of Arizona Trip

I decided to do a little exploring and try and get a few pictures of the Area that we are in, so I spent about an hour climbing to the top of the closest hill.  It turns out that as the crow flies, we are only about two blocks from the closest lake.

Day Sixteen of Arizona Trip

We got a call from Chris, that the furniture was going to be here about 10 AM. They were already in-route from Vegas and hopped to be here before the movers left. There were 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bedroom downstairs to fill, along with 1 living area up and 2 down to fill with sofas, chairs and tables.

Chris got here about a half hour before they were finished and was able to sign off on it.

Later we went to the club house area to get cards for Barb and myself, and check out the facilities.

Day Fifteen of Arizona Trip

Chris and Rob left early for Las Vegas this morning as they had some things to take care of at the house there. They hope to be back in time for the arrival of the furniture tomorrow.

I spent most of the day shopping for little things while Barb continued to do clean up at the house here.

This evening we met with one of my cousins that I didn't even know I had until a couple of months ago when I got an email from her introducing her self, because she had found some of my on line ancestry information.

Janey and her daughter Kailee, along with one of Kailee's friends from school, met us at the local Bill Johnson's Big Apple restaurant, here in Goodyear. We spent an hour and a half just getting to know each other and talking about family.

Day Fourteen of Arizona Trip

Busy today setting up TV's and shopping. Barb was working on painting some shelves in one of the bathrooms.
Posted a few pictures of some Cactus ready to start putting on flowers.
The Race Track is where the NASCAR races were held this weekend, and the baseball diamonds are of the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians spring training complex.  Both are within about 8 miles of the house.

Day Thirteen of Arizona Trip

We are dry camped at a local county park while we work on the house in Goodyear with Chris and Rob.  We slept in the coach two nights, but they delivered a couple mattress sets Friday night, so we slept on them last night.

We picked up Chris and Rob at the airport late Friday afternoon.
We have all been working on getting the house ready to go.

Day Nine of Arizona Trip

Took a walk down by the Colorado River with Barb this morning, then spent most of the rest of the day scanning pictures and documents.

Tomorrow we head for Goodyear, just this side of Phoenix.

Finished off the evening by watching American Idol.

Enjoy todays slide show.

Day Eight of Arizona Trip

Today was mostly just a day of relaxation and an evening walk down by the Colorado River.

Day Seven of Arizona Trip

First day since we left that neither of us took any pictures.  Packed the cars up this morning and a little after 10 we headed back to Ehrenberg.  We decided to stop in Laughlin and have our Easter dinner at the Tropicana.  We got back to Ehrenberg a little after 3 PM.

Barb stopped at the Albertsons in Blythe, CA to pick up some groceries, while I continued on to Flying J to fill up the car.  While waiting in line, the earthquake hit and the car started to rock. All the cars around me were rocking also.  Meanwhile, at Albertsons, things were falling off the shelves while Barb was shopping.  They had to call for the clean up crews to clear the broken glass from the isles.

Bruce and Louise got hooked up with Skype, so we were able to spend a few minutes talking to and looking at each other this evening.

Temperature was in the low 80 today, so we had to use the Air while traveling, and then to cool down the Coach after we got back.

Day Five of Arizona Trip

Today we started the morning as usual with a Latte when we got up. I then decided to join Barb on her morning walk and see what the birds and flowers were up to. The camp ground backs up to the Colorado River, and is a haven for the birds.

When we got back and cleaned up, we set down to enjoy another Latte with our breakfast outside. Then we went out for some sight seeing across the river in Blythe, CA.

Now it's just time to relax for awhile.

Enjoy todays slide show.

Day Four of Arizona Trip

Today we took the loaded car over to Goodyear to the new house so that we could drop off enough so that we could see out the back again.  It was about a 300 mile round trip.

Enjoy today's slide show.

Day Three of our Arizona Trip

Today was pretty clear sailing for the most part. The temperature hung in at about 55 degrees until we got East of Palm Springs, where it finally got into the low 70's.  Needless to say, we had to run the heater most of the day. Today was only an 11 hr day as compared to the 12 hrs we spent yesterday, but we traveled 100 miles further today. We arrived in Ehrenberg about 4:30 PM.

Barb went to do laps in the pool, but it was too cold, so she just set in the hot tub with me.  The hot tup made me realize how tired I was, and I just started to wilt, so I went to bed early and was already asleep when Barb finally joined me.

Enjoy today's slide show.

Day Two of our Arizona Trip

We left Chris and Rob's as soon as it was light enough to see.  By the time we get into Bend the roads are getting worse.  We finally pull over in LaPine to wait it out, as the sign says that traction tires are advised and think this is probably our best option. We pick up a couple of Senior Coffees at the local Chevron/McDonnald's stop. An hour and a half later, it looks like the truckers have broken it up pretty good, so we hit the road again.  Finally at Weed, CA we make it to I-5 and have clear sailing for the rest of the day.

We stop for the night just South of Sacramento, and spend the night at a Flying-J truck stop.  Of course, the reason for this location, is so that we can meet up with some RV friends, Royal and Mary, who are parked just across the street in a nice camp ground.  You can check out their blog from the link on my blog.

Enjoy todays slide show!

Day One of our trip to Arizona

We're finally on our way South for a few weeks. Final destination is Goodyear, AZ, where we will get to check out the new property that Chris and Rob bought. We are stopping by Chris and Rob's to load up the Coach and car with furnishing.

Enjoy a slide show of our first day.
