A lot has happened in the past few weeks, so I thought that I would give you a quick update. Over the past couple of months, we have been working with our daughter Chris and her husband Rob for the purchase of a home in Las Vegas. We were both going to purchase individually, but then we would have to use a property manager to look after them. In that case, neither of us would really be able to use and enjoy them. Rob suggested that if we go together, and share the costs, then it wouldn't be necessary to lease them out, and we could enjoy some time here in the winter months. It all seemed reasonable to us, so that is what we ended up doing.
Chris had made arrangements to have one of her co-workers drive a spare car to Las Vegas and also paint the interior, so we decided to make a quick trip to Pahrump. NV with our motor coach and help get everything in order. Pahrump is where we have a home park in the Western Horizons Resorts system, and don't have to pay to park our motor coach. It is about 50 miles from the house and we have to cross over a mountain range that is 5500' elevation.
We have made several trips in to the house and purchased and installed a washer, dryer, and refrigerator. For being a bank owned property, it was in extremely good condition except that the last owner took the garage door opener, so I finished installing a new one today. The carpet cleaners also came today and did the whole upstairs. The lower level is built on a slab floor, so the whole down stairs has tile flooring. We are extremely pleased with the way every thing has turned out.
One of the other factors in purchasing in Las Vegas, is that from Redmond, OR, we can get one way air fair for $29 by planning ahead. This will make it nice if we only want to go for a week or so.
